Hi everybody and happy Tag Thursday! Today I’m doing the Epic Reads book tag because
- I love Epic Reads (original video here)
- I am very fond of the word epic – I may even use the word a bit too much (oh well).
- These questions are… EPIC!
So without further ado, here are the questions:
1. If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who would you invite and what would you serve them?
I would ask Sarah J. Maas and her character Celaena from the Throne of Glass series to tea. Because Celaena is an awesome character and I’m pretty sure Sarah is equally awesome. We could talk about books and boys, Celaena could teach Sarah and me some epic self-defense moves and we could have all kinds of sweets as I know for sure that both Celaena and myself have a sweet tooth.
2. What book would you like a prequel for?
Completely unoriginal, but I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a Harry Potter prequel about the Marauders. There is so much story still to be told there and I would love to read all about it, even though I already know the ending would be heart-breaking.
3. Which two characters (not from the same book) do you think would make a good couple?
Nikolai from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo and Iseult from Truthwitch by Susan Dennard.
Why? Because Nikolai is one of my all-time favorite characters and I want him to end up happy. He’s under a lot of pressure (ruling a kingdom and all) and could use someone by his side. And Iseult would be perfect. She’s tough and strong so she would be a perfect partner for Nikolai. Plus she could use someone who makes her laugh and he could use someone who is not intimidated by him. Perfect match!
4. If you ran into your favourite author on the train and could only say one sentence to them, who would it be and what would you say?
If I would run into Sarah J. Maas (currently my favourite author) on the train and could only say one sentence it would be this:
“Hi Sarah, thank you for writing such amazing stories with the most kick-ass characters ever because just reading about these characters is empowering and motivational!”
(That’s assuming I could say something, I mean I am super awkward so I would probably just stare and then hurry away so I don’t embarass myself further. Just being real here)
5. What book made you a reader and why?
I’ve been a reader all my life, so there are multiple books that made me become a reader actually. When I was a kid it was Animorphs, The Baby-Sitters’s Club or the Goosebumps series.
More recently however, I got out of a big reading slump a few years ago thanks to a little book series calles The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I got addicted and was introduced to so many other great books because of it and haven’t had a reading slump since (*knocks on wood*)
6. Your book shelf just caught on fire! What book would you save and why?
Obviously, I would try to save as many as I can. What kind of person only saves one book? If you can save one, you can save a few more! Just saying.
Though if I HAD TO choose just one book it would be Free Fall by Joyce Sweeney. Because it was one of my favourite books as a teen and as such it has sentimental value.
7. What dystopian world would you want to live in if you had to choose one and why?
Just to be clear, I would not want to live in ANY dystopian world. Because they are dystopian, meaning they are just NOT NICE to live in. However, if I had to choose one, I think it would be the world from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. Because it would be fun to have powers! Super strength, telekinesis, invisibility, … whatever power would be awesome. Sure, I’d be hated and hunted for it, but still… Powers!
8. What is your most epic read of all time?
There are so many epic reads out there, so don’t make me choose! Though if I can just choose my most epic read of the last year, it would be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugho. Because it is about six outcasts and criminals trying to pull of an impossible heist – how EPIC does that sound already? And it was indeed super epic, I almost read it completely in one setting because I just could not put it down!
