“Waiting on” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted atΒ Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
This week’s pick is again a new book by an author I already know and love. Not only does it speak to my Orphan Black Clone Club loving heart, but the format of the book is so fun and original.
It’s actually two stories told by two different girls, and the reader can choose whether they prefer to read each story separately, or alternate chapters. It sounds amazing and I can’t wait to read it!
My pick for this week: Replica by Lauren Oliver
Expected publication: October 4th, 2016
What it’s about:
Gemma has been in and out of hospitals since she was born. ‘A sickly child’, her lonely life to date has revolved around her home, school and one best friend, Alice. But when she discovers her father’s connection to the top secret Haven research facility, currently hitting the headlines and under siege by religious fanatics, Gemma decides to leave the sanctuary she’s always known to find the institute and determine what is going on there and why her father’s name seems inextricably linked to it.
Amidst the frenzy outside the institute’s walls, Lyra – or number 24 as she is known as at Haven – and a fellow experimental subject known only as 72, manage to escape. Encountering a world they never knew existed outside the walls of their secluded upbringing , they meet Gemma and, as they try to understand Haven’s purpose together, they uncover some earth-shattering secrets that will change the lives of both girls forever…
I haven’t read a Lauren Oliver book (yet!), but I’m super excited for this. The fact that it can be read 3 different ways is so intriguing.
I liked her Delirium series already, and I loved her writing style. But what’s really intriguing about this book is indeed the unique format! π
I’m hoping to eventually get to Delirium! It’s been on my shelf for an insane amount of time, haha.
Ohh awesome pick Lindsey I am also anticipating this one as well I absolutely love Lauren Delirium series so I am very hopeful that I am going to love this one as well. Here is my WOW pick for this week.
