Welcome to a new Tag Thursday!
I’m still reeling from season 6 of Game of Thrones (those last 2 episodes were EPIC! I cried several times just because of all the feels and the sheer epicness) and since I’m not quite ready to accept that I have to wait another year for more epicness I decided to do the Game of Thrones book tag!
This tag was originally created by Claire Rousseau– you can find the video here.
I do have to confess I never read the books. And since I’m such a fan of the show and watched every episode already, I’m not really sure I still want to start with the books… Do let me know if you think I should still give them a try!
So without further ado, let’s start the tag!
Arya Stark- a character that’s all about revenge
Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Of course I have to start with her! Celaena and Arya would get along great – both great assassins who started their training at a young age after tragedy struck and are now out in the world looking to get some revenge. They are each a kickass girl in her own right, so who knows what they could accomplish if they teamed up?
Varys- A book featuring political intrigue
The Seven Kingdom series by Cinda Williams Chima
I loved all the political intrigue is the Demon King and its sequels. This is pretty much a perfect fantasy series, but all the political elements really elevated it from good to great!
Joffrey- A villain you just love to hate
I think we can all agree on this. There’s no more hated villain out there than Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. Not even Voldemort was as awful as her.
Jon Snow- A coming of age story
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Ok, it’s not a fantasy so it kind of sticks out in this tag as the only contemporary, but I couldn’t not include it, because it may be my favorite coming-of-age story in the history of ever.
Jaime & Cersei- A ship you just can’t get behind
I’m usually pretty okay with canon couples. Even if I secretly ship someone else, I can still accept the canon. The only couple I’m kind of ‘eh’ about is Bella and Edward from Twilight. #sorrynotsorry
Lady Olenna- A kickass older character
Is there anyone more kickass than Kelsier from The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson? He’s the perfect mentor/trainer/father figure! Now please excuse me while I go cry in a corner…
Dany- A book featuring dragons
The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas
Ok, technically they’re wyverns but I’m still counting them. Have you read this series? I highly recommend them, as they are some of my favorites!
Sansa Stark- A character you grew to love
Warner from the Shatter Me trilogy
We all hated Warner in Shatter Me. He was a real jerk. But once we got to know him… that all changed. Just like Sansa, he went from being a character I didn’t like to one of my favorite characters ever, so that’s saying something.
Melisandre- A favorite magic system
Nothing will ever beat the Harry Potter magic system. Wingardium Leviosa! (still waiting for that Hogwarts acceptance letter though…)
Tyrion- A character whose weapon is their mind
Laurent from the Captive Prince trilogy by C.S. Pacat
I love Laurent because of his super intelligent and highly strategic mind that’s always a few steps ahead of everybody else. Yes, he can still kick your ass, but chances are he won’t need to because the battle’s already won before you even realise it started.
What a fun tag. Completely agree about Dolores. The movie made me hate the character even more!
Yes, the actress really made the character come to life in the movie and make her even more hated!
