Hi, and welcome to a new Tag Thursday! This week I’m doing the Disney Book Tag. Because… it’s Disney and I love all things Disney, okay? It’s as simple as that π
This tag was originally created by Katytastic. Watch her original video here.
So without further ado, let’s get started!
1. The Little Mermaid – a character who is out of their element, a βfish out of waterβ
I’m gonna go with a character from a book I just recently finished, and that’s Aubree from Wanderlost. She’s this girl who has never even left her home state and is very comfortable there, thank you very much. BUT then something happens and she is forced to pretend to be her sister and go to Europe as her, where she has to act as a tour guide on a 22-day tour across Europe. This is so far out of her comfort zone, she’s a real fish out of water.
2. Cinderella – a character who goes through a major transformation
I’m gonna go with my current favorite: Manon Blackbeak from the Throne of Glass series. The Manon we first meet in Heir of Fire is so different from the Manon we last saw in Empire of Storms. I have loved her from the beginning, but that love has only grown and in a series that has so many different and amazing characters, Manon is my favorite by far!
3. Snow White – a book with an eclectic cast of characters
Ah, so many amazing options out there, but I’m gonna go with The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. And more specifically, Winter, because that is the book where all of the characters really come together and I loved it so much. The cyborg, the prince, the farmer, the wolf, the hacker, the captain, the princess and the guard – talk about ecclectic!
4. Sleeping Beauty – a book that put you to sleep
Ripper by Isabel Allende. I have read and loved a few books by Isabel Allende and when she released a thriller I thought it would be super suspenseful and amazing and it sadly was not. I actually stopped reading almost halfway so maybe it was still getting really good, but unfortunately I could not stay interested.
5. The Lion King – a character who had something traumatic happen to them in childhood
Ruby from The Darkest Minds trilogy. I mean, first this mysterious illness kills of most of the kids her age. Then, she turns out to be one of the survivers who get these powerful abilities. Then she gets locked up in this government brutal ‘rehabilitation’ camp. And that’s only what I can say without any spoilers. Obviously, the girl’s had a pretty rough childhood!
6. Beauty and the Beast – A beast of a book (a big book) that you were intimidated by, but found the story to be beautiful
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Oh man, this book was huge and took me like two weeks to finish. But it was worth it – I really enjoyed the book and afterwards I watched the tv show as well. Now onto Dragonfly in Amber, which is equally huge and intimidating…
7. Aladdin – a character who gets their wish granted, for better or worse
Elias from An Ember in the Ashes. In the beginning of the book he wants to run away from Blackcliff Academy but ends up staying because of circumstances. At the end he gets his freedom, but is it for better or for worse?
8. Mulan – a character who pretends to be someone or something they are not
Mare in Red Queen. She is a ‘red’, a regular person with no special abilities, who has to pretend to be a ‘silver’, someone with special abilities while living with the royal family. Talk about pressure!
9. Toy Story – a book with characters you wish would come to life
Come on… you all know what book I’m gonna say here. Harry Potter. Of course.
10. Disney Descendants – your favorite villain or morally ambiguous character
My most recent favorite villain is Holland from A Darker Shade of Magic. Even though he’s supposedly one of the villains in the book, I just couldn’t help but love him. He’s so very complex and I want to learn more about him! (Note: I haven’t read A Gathering of Shadows yet, so I have no idea if I will get my wish or not)
I love this tag! And you made me even more impatient to read Winter, I didn’t know this could ever happen, haha. I loved Cress so, so much, and the fantastic crew of characters, I can’t wait to get back into this world <3 I'm glad you talked about Wanderlost as well in this tag, I have this book on my TBR and it sounds like a great, cute read π Did you enjoy it? π
I hope you’ll enjoy Winter, it’s one of my favorite reads! I can’t decide whether I Cress or Winter is my favorite book in the series, but it’s very close π
I really loved Wanderlost! The set-up seemed a little far-fetched at first, but once I got into the story I really, really loved it. All the sights in Europe made me want to book a plane ticket right away π
Holland is such a great example of a character who is truly complex. I love him way more than I should.
He truly is! I loved him as well, I so hope we get more Holland in the next two books π
