Hi guys, and welcome to my September wrap up!
Well, the good news is that I managed to more or less get back on track with posting regularly in September. HUZZAH! The bad news is that my reading slump is still on and off. I mean, I WANT to read. I took 7 books with me on my 6-day holiday and I was super excited to read each and every single one. But I read just one. ONE. Plus one more during the rest of the month, which makes for a total of 2 books read this month. And boy, do I feel guilty. Am I still allowed to even call myself a book blogger here? (#dramaqueen)
Anyway, I am so looking forward to October (also known as Halloween season), so here’s hoping the October magic will work on me and turn me into a lean, mean reading machine once more. But first, let’s wrap up September!
Want by Cindy Pon
Truthfully, sci-fi isn’t always my thing. But Want stole my heart right from the start. It’s got everything I love in a story, so what if it didn’t have my usual dragons or castles? It had a kick-ass heist story and amazing group dynamics! That’s like the fastest way to my heart. So the hype is real. This book is definitely one of my favorites of the year.

Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee
This book should be on everyone’s radar. Seriously. I ADORED it. It’s such a fun read in so many ways that I could keep raving about it forever. We have a heteroromantic asexual main character. I repeat, we have ace representation. Romantic ace rep. GREAT romantic ace rep. Did I mention the fabulous ace rep? But also great friendship and family dynamics, a lovely ‘behind-the-scenes’ look into the making of a Youtube web series and lots of Tolstoy references. I’m in love.

*crickets*
Well, this K-Pop band I’m into called BTS had a comeback in September and well… I’ve basically only listened to their new cd? But seriously, it’s sooo good!
SOME OF MY FAVES THIS MONTH:
MOVIES
Wonder Woman
I FINALLY saw Wonder Woman and IT WAS EPIC! Definitely the best DC movie to date. I even cried a bit, just because I was so happy to see all these amazing women, female heroines get the spotlight they deserve. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the focus on mythology, because I’m all for that!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Well, I was warned this movie would be more of the same. And… it was more of the same. But seriously? I don’t mind. I love these movies and will keep watching them forever. Wasn’t too happy to see a certain character go though.
TV
Daredevil Season 2
So, I actually really want to watch The Defenders. Buut… I only watched Daredevil Season 1. And I still needed to watch the second season PLUS Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (eh). I started with my personal favorite, Daredevil, and though I didn’t love this season as much as the first, I thought it was still solid. But… am I the only one who’s not a fan of Elektra? I was expecting to love her, but I just did not. She actually mostly annoyed me *oops*.
W: Two Worlds
After a bit of a dry spell, I seriously needed some more kdrama in my life. So I decided on W: Two Worlds, which is the story of the daughter of a cartoonist, who gets pulled into her father’s famous webtoon and ends up falling for the main character. I’m about 8 episodes in and I AM IN LOVE <3
Let’s see, what happened in September?
- I went on holiday to Tenerife for a week with my husband and some friends. It was a great holiday and I enjoyed those last few days of Summer.
- BUT… I am now all ready for fall and am so happy to start the Halloween season (yes, it’s totally a season 😉 )
- Dance classes started again and it is obviously not a good idea to take a break over summer, because OMG, everything hurts now!
- I came to the conclusion that I really, REALLY miss marketing. So I’ve decided to try and pick up my self-study again and aim for some more official digital marketing certificates, such as Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Facebook Blueprint and so on.
- I’ve also been slacking on my Korean studies and want to pick this up again. One lesson a week shouldn’t be too hard, should it?
- When will I do this? I have no idea since I only seem to become busier and busier. I still haven’t completely gotten back on track with blogging or reading either. Adulting is hard. But I am determined to make it work!
I was not a fan of Elektra during Daredevil either! I mean, I get she’s a big character; maybe it was just the actress, I don’t know! I feel like I haven’t been reading a lot, either. Life has been so busy! But I’m so happy fall is here!
Ah I’m so happy to hear that! I was beginning to think I was the only one who wasn’t a fan of this Elektra. It could definitely have been an actress-thing, not a character-thing though. And yay, fall! 🙂
Wonder Woman was amazing indeed! And I agree that it’s the best DC movie to date. And I’m actually reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo now. 😀
I’m a little disappointed with my reading in September because I read about 50% less books that I usually do. So hopefully I can get my groove back in October.
Ah I hope you’re enjoying Wonder Woman: Warbringer! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts 🙂
Sorry to hear you’ve been out of your reading groove last month. Hope October will be better!
I’m so sorry you were in a bit of a slump, but I’m really happy that the two books you read ended up being GREAT, yay! 😀 I can’t wait to read both someday.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed that Pirate of the Carribean movie – I haven’t seen it and they do tend to look more or less the same…. but I’m still curious, ahah 🙂
Happy to hear you had such a lovely time on holidays! Adulting is so, so hard, but…yes, we’ll manage our time better and will make everything work for sure ahha 🙂
Hope you’ll have a lovely month ! xx
Yes, I think it’s definitely better to read fewer, but amazing books, than a ton of underwhelming ones 🙂
If you enjoyed the previous Pirates movies then I think you’ll like this one as well… Yeah, they’re more of the same, but I thought it was still a fun watch!
Holidays were definitely welcome, haha! Yeah, we’ll get on top of this adulting thing soon for sure 😉
Hope you’ll have an amazing October, Marie!
Boo to the reading slump! That’s never fun. (I read a measly three books this past month. It’s kind of pitiful. But oh well! Two were really good, so there is that…!)
Glad you enjoyed a fun holiday though. Hope October is a good month for you – and maybe you discover some amazing books, too.
Yay for “Wonder Woman” and ‘Pirates.’ I have to pick up the latter this week (didn’t get to theaters to see that one). I love ’em too despite them being “more of the same.” They’re just too much fun NOT to watch. 😀
Reading slumps are definitely no fun! Sorry to hear you had one too this month! But I think it’s definitely better to read fewer, but amazing books, than a ton of underwhelming ones 🙂
Haha, yes I completely agree about Pirates – even if they’re more of the same, they’re just too much fun not to watch 😀
Hope you’ll have an amazing October too Rissi!
I only read one book last month and it was a poetry collection so I feel you!! I’m still in a bit of a slump myself. I just can’t seem to focus enough to sit down and fully immerse myself in a book. I’m really glad you enjoyed both Want and Tash Hearts Tolstoy though because they’re both on my TBR!!
Wonder Woman was SO GOOD!!
Ah, hope we’ll both get out of our slump soon, Lauren! I am so planning on joining your Halloween Readathon BTW, I’m just very late with my TBR and all because of said slump *oops* But I am looking forward to it anyway. Hope you’ll love both Want and Tash Hearts Tolstoy when you get to them! And yeah, Wonder Woman was so, so gooood <3
Can you tell I’m still catching up? 😉
Yay for posting again! I was missing you! How’s the book slump going? I hope it’s better now!!!
I think I’m following you on Spotify and it basically always has Lindsey is listening to BTS. 🙂
So glad you loved Wonder Woman!!! Yay!!!!!!!
Also yay for dance classes! I hope you’re all back into it now!
Anyways, let me go catch up some more and I’ll hopefully not be so far behind soon! Hope October is being kind to you!
Di! I’m so happy to see you! Haha, I definitely have some catching up to do as well 🙂
The book slump… ehh.. still not so good. Hoping to snap out of it any day now!
I didn’t know you were following me on Spotify! Followed you back now. And haha, yeah I’m sorry for my lack of musical diversity lately *oops*
Wonder Woman was AMAZING <3 Reminds me I still need to read the Leigh Bardugo book as well...
Dance classes are great! Our first show is coming up soon and I'm loving every rehearsal 🙂
Hope you're having an amazing October too Di!
