Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!
Today’s a Throwback Tuesday, because I’m taking you back in time, all the way to January 2016, when I was a fledgling blogger who, after a lot of doubt, finally took the plunge and just started her own book blog… Which was (and who am I even kidding, still IS) a learning curve. So here’s to rookie mistakes, not giving up, and getting better one day at a time!
Book Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
My first ever book review is also my shortest one ever (not counting my recent ‘review to follow’ reviews because by now we all now there is no review following). I’m not as in love with this book as I was back then, and I also have zero interest in any sequels, but back then I quite enjoyed it.
TV Review: Shadowhunters Premiere
Re-reading this aaaallmost makes me want to re-watch Shadowhunters. If only for the Malec and Simon scenes. But then again, I better not. Let’s just have a gif-party instead.
Book List: Most Anticipated Reads of 2016
OH MY GOD, THE TERRIBLE FORMATTING!! *cringe*
At least ACOMAF lived up to my expectations ๐
Book Review: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Look, now I know this book is problematic, but when I reviewed this I wasn’t aware of this yet. Now I am, and though I won’t quickly recommend it because of its issues, I still quite enjoyed the story.
Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books Iโve Recently Added To My TBR
January-2016-Lindsey, YOUR LAY-OUTS SUCKED! But you read 9 out of 10 books on your TBR, so you’re doing a whole lot better than 2019-Lindsey…
Book Review: Shadow & Bone (The Grisha #1) by Leigh Bardugho
Another SUPER-SHORT review, but I was clearly in love with this series. And that was before I ever met Nikolai so I was in for quite the surprise <3 But really Lindsey, DID YOU HAVE TO MISSPELL LEIGH BARDUGO’S NAME IN YOUR REVIEW? Geez.
Book Review: All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Another book that I’ve since learned to be problematic, yet I did highly enjoy this one. And I’m still watching fluffy light-hearted comedies to try and get over it.
Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books That Will Become Movies in 2016
Well, here’s my reminder to go watch Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Book Review: Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Funny how I gave this one a 4-star rating, but have zero interest in the sequel and actually unhauled this book a few weeks ago…
Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Futuristic Societies I Would Not Want To Live In
Well, this post is one I still completely agree with! But then, I also haven’t read a lot of Dystopian since then, so I can’t really update it either.
This post is SO much fun to read, Lindsey. ๐ I’ve been SLOWLY going back and editing my old reviews. Most of the time the conclusion stays the same, but I have to go in to reformat (from the Blogger to WP move) anyway, so I take the opportunity to also correct ALL those terrible sentences. And I have a lot. ๐
I mean my formatting was so bad haha and I clearly learned a lot about writing reviews. ๐ Also I am in desperate need to read Pride and Prejudice and zombies. Maybe for halloween haha.
I love looking at old TV posts- those can be so fun!
Great twist on this week’s topic! I thought Passenger would be right up my street, but I’ve seen so many ‘meh’ reviews that I’ve never bothered checking it out so I’m not surprised to hear you unhauled it.
Also “So hereโs to rookie mistakes, not giving up, and getting better one day at a time!” – YES! I couldn’t agree with you more. ๐
I love how varied your posts are! And your comments about formatting made me laugh! Mine is awful too! XD
My TTT for this week.
Your reactions to your reviews had me LOLing. Fun post! I only started writing reviews last year and wasnโt so bad but I was a lot easier with my stars/ratings back then ?
If youโd like to check it out, hereโs my TTT
Ha ha yes, my early blog posts are all incredibly cringey, and all reviews in fact, I didn’t really start doing other content until my second year of blogging.
It’s cringe-worthy, but in a good way. Hey, at least you started and did something which is more than most people do!
At least that’s how I’m choosing to think about it.
Oh gosh, my posts in the very beginning of the blog were just awful. LOL I’m not sure they’re amazing now, but I’ve come a long way so I’ll take it! And yes, watch Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! It’s really good.
-Lauren
I think it’s cool you included a TV review in your list.
My TTT.
HA oh my goodness, my formatting and layouts still suck, and I’ve been typing away at this blog since 2014! ๐
This was so funny. If I commentated on all my early posts….. well, I don’t think I should do that. I cringe so hard at those.
I really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I thought it was SO well done (though, I haven’t read the book, but as an adaptation of the original tale) and really loved it. I hope you get to watch it soon!
Haha, yes, it’s interesting to look back at the formatting choices I made for my early posts! I’m glad I can’t see the blog designs I used to have!
Fun post! This reminds me that I need to read more of Leigh Bardugo’s work. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
I didn’t really use TBRs in 2016, so I’m winning now. I might read all 10/10 books from my spring TBR this season!
I had some formatting difficulties originally on this blog, even though I had a political blog long before this. I had to find a way that I liked to use to showcase the books.
