Twelve Books That Give Off Summer Vibes {Top Ten Tuesday}

20200602 Summer Vibes

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Since summer is almost upon us, it’s the perfect time to start reading some books that give off those summer vibes. For me, summer means a lot of things, but most of all it’s a time of sunshine, lush greenery, delicious ice creams, warm beaches, travels and fun events. So for this post, I checked my list of books I’ve read or want to read and chose the ones that project ‘SUMMER’ like that to me.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren Wanderlost by Jen Malone Well Met by Jenn DeLuca

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

When the whole wedding party gets food poisoning, except the maid of honor and the best man, they decide to go on the honeymoon instead of the newlyweds. Because who says no to an all-expenses paid honeymoon in Hawaii? Except, pretending to be in love might prove difficult since they kind of hate each other…

Wanderlost by Jen Malone

A girl gets in over her head when she pretends to be her more travel-savvy sister on her summer job, leading a group of senior citizens on a bus tour throughout Europe.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

What screams summer more than shenanigans at a Renaissance Faire? Well, honestly I’ve never been to one, but I really, really, really want to some day!

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

A glamping trip goes wrong when two childhood-best-friends-turned-enemies end up stranded in the wilderness and have to rely on each other to find their way home safely. Other than some imminent danger and, you know, BEARS, this was a pretty fun summer read.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Does it get any more summer than a tale of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries in Italy, the land of gelato, and as such, of my heart?

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

This is a cute contemporary retelling of The Little Mermaid (without any real mermaids though) that centers around a regatta and a mermaid festival and had a very beachy vibe.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson Going Off-Script by Jen Wilde

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

Is there any author out there who has got the summer vibe going on more than Morgan Matson? Since You’ve Been Gone is a personal favorite of mine and is about a girl named Emily, whose best friend disappears right before the start of what should have been an epic summer, but she leaves behind a fun to-do list that might just turn this summer into the best Emily’s ever had.

Going Off Script by Jen Wilde

This was a super fun LGBTQ contemporary about a girl interning as a script-writer for a tv-show, who fights against the straight-washing of a beloved new character.

If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

This is a contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and I haven’t read it yet, but the cover screams summer to me.

Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian

Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian

First love, feminism and ice cream? Sounds amazing AND summery!

The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth

This f/f romance promises a summer of fun, complete with every cliché, rom-com montage-worthy date you can dream up.

Beach Read by Emily Henry

A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters. I NEED IT.

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton

When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton

The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton

Ahh, these all look and sound so gorgeous and are up so high on my TBR – the covers, the locations, it all sounds so breathtakingly beautiful and summery.

Tell Me:
Have you read and loved any of these? What book do you love that gives off summer vibes?
