Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!
Today’s all about loooong book titles and for this post I actually used an excel file to count the amount of letters each title had and then sort them and poof, here’s a list of the longest book titles on my shelves (both read and want to read):
Conclusion: I like long book titles. I also like excel for helping these things along quicker than me actually counting every single letter.
Book Title | # of Letters |
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe | 56 |
How The King Of Elfhame Learned To Hate Stories | 47 |
The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly | 44 |
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue | 40 |
Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune | 38 |
Warping Minds and Other Misdemeanors | 36 |
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating | 36 |
A Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet | 35 |
Hunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped | 35 |
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes | 34 |
I do like lengthy titles. I think it helps the book stand out more – though it makes for more of an SEO nightmare when reviewing the book! ‘Kit Sweetly’ is really cute, and one I almost used. 🙂
Lengthy titles are definitely quite fun! But you’re so right, I hadn’t even thought about the SEO aspect yet!
Loved your list. Their names are indeed so long. 🙂
Thanks! Love long book titles 🙂
I do like lengthy titles but I always stumble about them. I’ve stumbled on The Long Way title by Becky Chambers for ages haha. I do have about 30 read titles in my post haha.
Oh yeah, I do have trouble remembering longer titles. Or people shorten them and I’m always like “wait, which title was ADKILS again? what are they talking about??”…
Ohhh, you did this the right way!! I went through my entire READ list n Goodreads ??♀️
Oh wow, you definitely did this the hardcore way! I kind of went the slacker route haha 🙂
Great list! I do quite like books with long titles, especially when they’re fairly unusual.
Exactly, with long book titles the odds are higher that they’re unique and unusual 🙂
I so like this list. I love lengthy titles (always have a giggle when they get particularly long, like some light novels do). I love that you added the count next to the title + also did it from highest to lowest!
Yes, lengthy titles can be so much fun, I love them too 🙂
I’m impressed that you actually counted them. 🙂 A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet has been on my TBR for a long time. I really need to get to it soon.
Haha I can’t take the credit, excel actually counted them 😉 But it was still fun! I still need to read A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet as well.
I love how everyone is being so analytical about this week’s topic and actually counting words, letters, and characters! I want to read Kit Sweetly soon!
Haha yes our inner analytics nerd is coming out this week 😀
Have you read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes yet?
My post.
I did read it this summer, but I had mixed feelings about it.
Great list! Almost all of these are on my TBR. 🙂
Hope you’ll enjoy all of these!
I love that you found ten completely different titles than the ones on my TTT.
It’s a good thing there are so many books out there 🙂
That’s for sure. Something for everyone. No reason not to be a reader. 😉
I sure liked A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I still need to read that one!
Long book titles can be fun, especially if they have something funny in them 😛
Funny book titles are for sure the best book titles! 😀
Becky Chambers’s book is on my end of year TBR hehe 😀
Here’s my TTT if you want to have a look https://readwithstefani.com/books-with-milelong-titles-on-my-tbr/ Happy reading!
Mine too! (It’s been on my TBR way too long already) 🙂
wow some of these are so long Lindsey!
These are definitely some long titles!
I liked how you sorted by letters. I need to read the King of Elfhame book.
I’m so looking forward to that one too!
Aristotle and Dante is my longest titled book too! I find long titles really quirky <3
Quirky book titles are the best!
I love that you actually put in the work to find out exactly which of your books had the longest titles! You definitely put in the work this week. And what a great list. The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly looks fantastic—adding it to my TBR pile.
I loved being able to use Excel for something non-work related for a change, it’s been fun! 🙂
Kit Sweetly does sound fantastic, still need to read it myself.
I think long titles can be a lot of fun, especially if they’re quirky. Aristotle and Dante made my list too. 🙂
Quirky titles are so much fun indeed 🙂
