Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!
Today’s topic was supposed to be ‘Places in Books I’d Love to Live’, but honestly, I feel like I’ve already done several iterations of this topic in the past and I just wasn’t feeling a repeat/update.
What I was feeling though? FOUND FAMILIES!
The Found Family trope is a popular bookish trope that owns my heart. Seriously, I can’t even think about these books and their found families without tearing up because I love them so much. Basically, this trope is when a group of random characters come together and form their own family. Often they are thrown together through conflict and start to care for one another so much they grow a strong friendship that then evolves in a feeling of family. These characters would do anything for each other. Mostly, making me cry.
So without further ado, I present to you 10 books with the best found family tropes!
The ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas
The Night Court. The Court of Dreamers. And most recently, the Valkyrie trio. SJM is a queen of the found family trope.
Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
No mourners. No funerals. I love the dregs and their moral greyness so much.
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Found family in fairytale-retelling-space!
The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan
Sure, there are dangerous quests and all. But it would also be a lot of fun to be a part of this gang!
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Was this list an excuse to rave some more about this exquisite book? Maybe. But you can’t read this book about a group of quirky orphaned kids and their caretaker and not become just as attached as Linus, the main character, does.
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Oh hey, another found family led by a morally grey character that you can’t help but fall for!
The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater
Blue and her Raven Boys. It’s been years since I’ve read this series and I’m still not over them.
The Guild Codex series by Annette Marie
I have such a soft spot for Tori and her three mages. Every scene they’re all in together made my eyes tear up, just because I love that they all had each other.
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
I’m super late to this train, but the Wayfarer crew is the perfect found family that makes my heart smile!
The Aurora Cycle by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’d do anything for Squad 321. Misfits in space own my heart.
I love found families, and I am absolutely here for the Wayfarer crew. I wish I could just keep reading about them…
Found families are amazing and I could definitely keep reading about the Wayfarer crew too!
Aw Wayfarer has such a loving crew <3 And the crows really are so solid with each other. And yes the raven boys <3
Aww they all own my heart, I love them so much <3

I could keep reading about the Wayfarer crew! 🙂
Tori and her three mages jumped in my head too when I saw the topic of this top ten tuesday! 🥰
Tori and her mages own my heart <3
Yes I love found families, it’s one of my favourite tropes and you have so many of my favourites here (the Night Court, the Gangsey, the Dregs, the Seven and Victor’s little family in Vicious). Some of my other favourite ones include Severin’s crew from The Gilded Wolves, the Fossil sisters from Ballet Shoes, Wesley’s crew from Into The Crooked Place and Magnus’ little group from the Magnus Chase series).

Oh thanks for the recs! The Gilded Wolves has been high on my TBR already, but the others just got added because of their found families 🙂
No problem 🙂
I love found families in books. Great post!
Found families are amazing!
They really are.
I really really need to read some of these, esp the Cerulean Sea. Everyone seems to love this one.
I absolutely ADORE Cerulean Sea, hope you’ll enjoy it too if you pick it up!
I didn’t do today’s topic either. I love what you chose to do! I have read so many of these books and the families found in them were so special.

I love this topic! It just makes me smile. I also just started The House in the Cerulean Sea and can’t wait to meet that found family. 🙂
