Hi everybody! How are we halfway through the year already? I could have sworn New Year’s Day was just like yesterday. But oh well, that also means it’s almost time for all that fall magic. You know, after that summer magic anyway π
Luckily I got quite some reading in already (my count is currently at 45 books completed, which is just 5 books away from my yearly reading goal). So basically, it’s the perfect time to do this quick and fun Mid Year Book Freakout Tag!
This tag is created by ReadLikeWildfire and Ely Jayne
Let’s get started!
1. Best book youβve read so far in 2021.
I read a few amazing books this year so far, but honestly this one is my absolute favorite. It was an enjoyable and emotional read, it was empowering and epic and unputdownable.
2. Best sequel youβve read so far in 2021.
I love Annette Marie books. I love the Guild Codex universe. And I love Kit. His second book read like an action-movie, but with the best kind of humor.
3. New release you havenβt read yet, but want to.
I heard nothing but good things, so I hope to dive into this one soon.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
A medieval Venom starring a nun and a ghost… by Margaret Rogerson. I MEAN YES PLEASE!
5. Biggest disappointment.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but then book 2 just fell kind of flat.
6. Biggest surprise.
I know this is a hugely popular book, but I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be so addictively readable, so that’s why it was a surprise. I was hooked from the first chapter and finished this entire book in a single day.
7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
Hello my latest obsession. Welcome, it’s fun around here and you can hang out with all my other obsessions!
8. Newest fictional crush.
Ah, I’m in love with a certain horny commander (I mean that he has horns, jeez!)
9. Newest favourite character.
Gotta love Des, my fave winged king of Night. Not to confuse with my other fave winged king of Night… guess I have a type.
10. Book that made you cry.
During this specific scene, I was full on sobbing in my car while listening to the audiobook. Would not recommend for safety reasons.
11. Book that made you happy.
Some books just feel like smiles and sunshine and that’s exactly what this book felt like to me.
12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.
Not a film, but 2021 so far has been the year of Shadow and Bone. I adored this adaptation so much.
13. Favourite review youβve written this year.
Hmm, technically this is a mix of a series review and a Top Ten Tuesday post, but I love when I get to gush about one specific series, so I’m going for my post with 10 Reasons Why I Love The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost
14. Most beautiful book youβve bought so far this year (or received)
A few weeks ago, we did a Bookish Wishes post and I received a physical copy of Red, White and Royal Blue from Laura at Literacious and it’s made me so happy!
15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Sooo many, but just a few:
i can’t wait to read gild! and the covers are stunning.
Hope you’ll enjoy Gild when you get to it! The covers are indeed amazing <3
I really need to join in on this tag! It looks like so much fun! I had so much fun reading your answer! You had me laughing quite a bit too! LOL! Happy reading, Lindsey!
Haha thanks, hope you’ll do the tag too π
I’m so excited for Vespertine, too!
Vespertine sounds so amazing and I love Margaret Rogerson’s other books so I have high hopes π
I still can’t believe how amazing the adaptation of Shadow and Bone was. π
Right, it was perfect!
I finally read Malibu Rising and it was amazing!
I’m so glad to hear that, can’t wait to dive in too π
I can’t believe I haven’t read A Court of Silver Flames yet. I even preordered it! I read Malibu Rising last month and thought it was excellent.
So glad to hear you loved Malibu Rising! Hope you’ll love ACOSF too when you get to it!
Great choices! I just read Under the Whispering Door and loved it! Excellent story. And I loved ACOSF too. Those and Gilded Serpent are my top three reads so far this year. I really want to read In Deeper Waters – that cover is gorgeous, and the story sounds so good!
So glad to hear you loved Under the Whispering Door! Can’t wait to read it too π In Deeper Waters was definitely a super fun, light fantasy and the cover is indeed gorgeous.
I’m glad to hear that you liked In Deeper Waters. And I really want to read If This Gets Out too!
Lauren
In Deeper Waters was such a fun, light fantasy! I feel like I’ve been waiting for If This Gets Out for forever already, the anticipation is so high π
So excited for Malibu Rising too! I hope we both enjoy it πβ¨
Me too, it sounds so good and the reviews so far are all so positive!
Vespertine sounds so good! Raven Kennedy’s book Gild has such an awesome cover. I want to read that one. I had fun reading your mid-year freak out, Lindsey. Here’s to a great second half of 2021!
Indeed, I’m so looking forward to Vespertine! Oh, I hope you’ll enjoy Gild when you decide to read it. Have a great second half of 2021 too!
