Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday post! Today’s topic is “books I love that were written over 10 years ago” and while I thought this would be a tricky post, in the end I found so many books that I had to struggle to cut it down to just 10. But hey, that means I can do a part two in the future right? Anyway, here’s my final selection of 10 books I love that were written in or before 2012:

Free Fall by Joyce Sweeny (1997) – This is one of the first books I remember falling in love with when I was still a teenager and I’ve re-read it several times (though it’s been years now so I’m curious if I’d still love it as much now)

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (2005) – Though I only read it when the entire series was already out, the first Percy Jackson book will always be a classic favorite.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (2007) – Definitely such a classic!

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost (2007) – I only read this one about two years ago, but it sparked a slight obsession with the entire series that has kept me busy for those past two years.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (2008) – Another classic, I was obsessed with this series (and the movie adaptations).

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (2011) – Also a book I’ve only read recently, but that was so beautiful it’ll stay with me a long time.

Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (2011) – Ah, I have fond memories of this one and the dystopia-rage of that time period.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (2011) – Another more recent read, but an instant favorite.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (2012) – My first SJM book is just barely over 10 years old, I can hardly believe it.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (2012) – Another favorite of mine of 10 years ago, and now 10 years later I’m still obsessed with the characters and impatiently awaiting season 2 of the TV adaptation.

    1. I know, it feels so much newer than that!

  2. It seems like only yesterday that Song of Achilles was winning accolades everywhere. And then, you find it’s already been 10 years around us. I had to rub my eyes a bit for Shadow and Bone too!

    1. I know, a lot of these had me wondering how on earth they could already be 10 years old when they feel like just yesterday to me…

  3. Wow, I didn’t realize The Book Thief was that old!

  5. I’m still surprised that Night Circus and ToG were published that many years ago 😂 I had SoA on my list today as well and honestly, I was shocked it was pub’d so many years ago as well! Great list 🙂

    1. I know right, I couldn’t believe either these were already released so many years ago either! But then I’m one of those people who still thinks the nineties were just a few years ago haha 😀

  6. I couldn’t finish my TTT post this week, but The Hunger Games and The Book Thief would have made my list. I love those books.

    1. They do feel like such classics!

  7. The Hunger Games takes me back. What a phenomenon that was!

    1. It really was!

  8. I read The Night Circus years ago. I wasn’t particularly enamoured with it so I maybe need to read it again! I need to read that Sarah J Maas series. I started with ACOTAR series!

    Have a great week!

    1. I think The Night Circus is one of those books you either love or hate, so I totally understand if it wasn’t for you.
Glad to hear you loved ACOTAR and hope you’ll also love Throne of Glass 🙂

      1. I can’t remember loving it 😂

Honestly ACOTAR reminded me of why I love Fantasy!

  9. This is a fun topic even if I did go rogue. Hard to believe the Lightning Thief is that old… and I love Hunger games! I only read it fairly recently (as a book blogger I feel like it took me forever to get to it… )

    1. Oh a lot of these books on this list today I also only read recently, so you’re not the only one, don’t worry 🙂

  10. OMG. I can’t believe some of these books are at least 10 years old. It doesn’t seem that long ago when they were released.

    1. I know right, they all feel so recent still!

  11. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

6 of these have been read and loved Lindsey!

    1. Glad to hear that Sophie!
(PS: I’ve been trying to comment on your blog today, but I keep getting an error so I don’t think my comments are going through – I’ll try again another time and hopefully it’ll work then!)

Great list! But I’m really biased because we have 4 books in common in our lists this week 😉

  13. 10 years in book life sure goes by quickly doesn’t it? Book Thief and Night Circus almost made my list, but might have to wait to part 2. Like you I had WAY more than just 10 books I loved. Song of Achilles is another winner! Thanks so much for the visit!

      1. I hope so too!
