Hi everyone, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday post! Today’s post is a Halloween freebie, which is my favorite kind of freebie as I LOVE all things Halloween. For today’s post, I wanted to revamp an old post I did back in 2017 (inspired by the Creatures of the Night book tag by Katytastic) on my favorite fictional creatures of the night. It’s been a while since 2017, so surely I can update this one by now. Here we go!
Vampire
The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost

I only recently discovered this older series and I am in love with the vampire lore in it!

Werewolf

The pack
I’ll never love another werewolf pack as much as I love this one.
“I googled “what to do when your future werewolf mate / boyfriend / best friend courts you and brings you a dead rabbit.”
First, there was a lot of porn. Then I found a recipe for Maltese rabbit stew. It was delicious. The stew, not the porn. The porn was weird.”
Zombie
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen
The creatures in this story are called drudges, but they have a lot in common with zombies, so that counts, right?
“I’m an undertaker, or, at least, I have been for the past few months. I salt bodies and wrap them in sailcloth and sing the incantations over them. I build boats for the dead and send them where they need to go. I love what I do, helping souls find rest in the House of the Unknown God, and comforting the living in the process.”
Ghost

I’m currently reading The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and I definitely think drudges count as zombies. Great take on the theme 🙂

Werewolfs with Mercedes Thompson and the Green Creek series have been some big favorites in recent years.
The Green Creek series definitely owns my heart this year. I still need to read the Mercedes Thompson books, but they’re on top of my list!
Ghosts and perhaps the superpower humans for me – not the rest!!
I still want to read Under the Whispering Door.

They’re definitely two of my favorite creatures as well!

I love ghost stories.
Zombies are cool, too, but they really scare me. So I have to watch zombie stuff with a few fingers covering my eyes and in broad daylight. LOL.

I love a good werewolf story, and the fae too. I like my fae stories a little on the darker side but not TOO dark lol.
I’m a big scaredy cat so I definitely don’t want too dark either haha 🙂
Zombies and aliens don’t do much for me but big yes to vampires and werewolves!
I definitely read WAAY less stories with zombies and aliens in them too! Vampires and werewolves, on the other hand… I’ll never get enough 🙂

A great list! I don’t think I’ve read many books that could help me with this tag. But off the top of my head, I know I’ve read books with angels, ghosts, vampires, and the grim reaper.

What an interesting list. Witches, ghosts, and fairy would make my list. I’m okay with the occasional demon. Vampires with a sense of humor are my favorite.

This is a great post! I am in the middle of Wolfsong right now. It’s a buddy read but it’s been going slow bc Oct has been crazy busy for us all. I love so many of these books though!
