Ten Books & Other Things I’m Thankful For In 2022

20221122 Thankful

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s topic is a Thankful-freebie in honor of Thanksgiving. Now, in Belgium we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, BUT I do always enjoy listing things that made me happy in the past year. Because it’s always a good idea to focus on everything we have to be thankful about, right?

So today’s post is all about the things that I’m thankful for in 2022. As always, I just want to say that of course I am most happy for my husband, family and friends and their health and mine. That is ALWAYS number one. But for this post I don’t want to get too sentimental and instead focus on other things that I’m thankful for. Perhaps the smaller things that can be easily forgotten, and yet they have the power to make any day that much better.

This is a book blog so OF COURSE I’m always thankful for books. I’m thankful for books for transporting me to other, exciting worlds whenever I need it. I’m thankful for books for helping me pass the time during my daily commute (audiobooks FTW). I’m thankful for books for giving me so many fictional characters to care about. And I’m thankful for books for bringing me this blog and through it, all of you! This bookish community has been the absolute best, so THANK YOU!

Here are just a few of my favorite books of the year:

I’m thankful for music for being my constant companion. I’m thankful to all the songs that hype me up when I need it, or the ones that help calm me down when I need that. I’m thankful for all the artists who keep pouring so much emotions into their songs so I can relate and place my own feelings. And I’m thankful for all the artists from my youth who are having comebacks this year because OMG, I’m feeling like I’m a teenager again with songs from bands like Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Avril Lavigne, The Used and so many more on my playlist.

Here are a few of my favorite songs of 2022:
(just two for now, but I’m DEFINITELY doing a full top ten (or twenty) by the end of the year)

I’m thankful for all the TV shows I watched and loved in 2022 because there were some amazing ones! Some of my favorites include: Heartstopper (read my rave here), Young Royals (read my rave here), Business Proposal (read my rave here), Stranger Things, Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, Only Murders in the Building, Sandman and Rings of Power.

I’m thankful for being able to see Ed Sheeran live in concert in 2022. I went in July, together with my mother, and it was so amazing. Being able to attend a concert of that size again after the pandemic, being able to share this experience with my mom, and just experiencing Ed Sheeran do his things live: magic.

It wouldn’t be a Lindsey-thankful list without food and the dish of 2022 for me has gotta be bibimbap. This Korean dish is just the most delicious thing ever and with the rice and veggies, it’s even quite healthy too. Win-win, right?

In 2022 I started to really embrace the coziness even more than ever before, and where would cozy be without blankets? Especially with the rising energy prices, I’ve never used more blankets. So thank you, blankets, for keeping me warm and cozy throughout the year!

In early April I took a weekend trip to Paris with my husband and I am so thankful I got to do that. I’ve been once before, but my husband didn’t, so we toured all the big tourist attractions. It was a cold few days, but it was so much fun to explore this wonderful city.

Like I said, 2022 has been all about embracing the coziness, and another crucial element of the coziness is TEA. I’ve been really enjoying taking the time for a little tea break whenever I can. My favorite is jasmine-lychee tea, with a LOT of honey, yum.

Yes, cozy gaming is totally a thing and I’ve gotten obsessed this year. I’d already been a huge Pokémon fan, but in 2022 I also became obsessed with Disney’s Dreamlight Valley. I spent so many hours on this game, just taking care of my village and building friendships with all my fave Disney characters 🙂

And last, but definitely not least, I’m forever thankful to our little spitfire of a dog, Pixel. Thank you Pixel for being a bundle of energy, for your surprise cuddle moments and for making me go on walks and breathe outside air even when I’m sometimes tempted to hole up inside forever.

  7. I love this list, Lindsey! Pixel is adorable 😍 I’m thankful for many books that transport me away from reality as well! I’m also so thankful for cosy games and gaming in general—Zelda BOTW and ACNH have been my games this year. 💜

    1. Thanks Dini! I’m not usually a really big gamer, but the cosy gaming has definitely been a highlight of my year 🙂

  9. Your dog is adorable! And it’s awesome that you got to visit Paris. I’d love to go there someday, but it’s so far away! I’m also reliving my teenage years by listening to Panic! At The Disco. I’m very grateful for them. 🙂

    1. Thanks! Haha, yes I’m lucky in that Paris is close by for me (only 2 hours by train). The music nostalgia has been intense this year 🙂

  10. I love your idea of taking notice of some of the smaller things in life that it’s easy to overlook. Those are the things that make us content and happy. I particularly like the way you described how books make you feel – agreed 100%.
    Have a terrific week.

    1. Thanks! There really are so many things if we stop and think about it 🙂

  15. Awww, what a great list! I love that you’re thankful for blankets. Me, too. I live in a very hot place (Arizona, USA) so when it finally cools down in the winter, I freeze. Wrapping up in a soft blanket is so nice on those chilly days!

    Happy TTT!

    1. I totally get that! Being able to wrap up in a soft blanket when you’re cold is an amazing feeling.

  16. Yay for all these things, but especially getting to see Ed Sheeran! He puts on a fantastic concert. I have seen him 3 times and have a 4th coming up in August.

    1. Ed Sheeran is so amazing live, I definitely hope to see him again some day (this was my second time). Hope you’ll have a wonderful time in August!

  17. Such a lovely list! Pixel is adorable, makes me miss our dog, though we were incredibly lucky for the almost fourteen years we had him. I am definitely super grateful for blankets at the moment, it’s so cold. Always grateful for books, music and TV, there’s been some really fab shows this year (yay fellow Only Murders In The Building fan! I love that show, it’s so much fun). I saw Ed Sheeran live a while back, and he was great, I would love to go to concerts more as I love live music, but they’re always so expensive! And yay Paris, I’ve not been in ages…..

    1. Thanks so much! Aww dogs are the best indeed. Only Murders in the Building was such a fun show, I really enjoyed it! Live concerts are indeed so expensive, I try to be reaaaallly selective about which artists I want to see live. Hope you’ll get to visit Paris sometime soon!

  18. All of these are great things to be thankful for. And I love Pixel’s name.

    1. Thanks so much!
