12 Book Challenge: Asking For Your Recommendations – Which Books Should I Read Next Year?

12 Book Challenge1

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to do something different. You’ve probably seen the 12 Book Challenge (12 Friends, 12 Books, 12 Months) on bookish social media the last few weeks and I wanted to join in. Basically, it’s a bookish challenge where you ask your friends for book recommendations and then you make it a challenge to read 12 of them in the next year.

Now, normally I don’t like joining bookish challenges because I’m a major mood reader and challenges stress me out. BUT I wanted to try this one because I think it’s it’s a fun one and a nice way to get me to read some stuff that’s a little out of my comfort zone or that’s so beloved by my bookish friends that I want to try it too. But instead of on social media (where I’m honestly not super active) I wanted to ask for recommendations directly on my blog. So let’s go!

Please recommend me some of your favorite books that you think I simply must read!

This can be:

  • A book in my favorite genres: fantasy or romance or fantasy romance 🙂
  • A book in a genre outside of my comfort zone that I’ve been wanting to try:
    • historical fiction
    • thriller
    • cozy mystery
    • non-fiction
  • Any book you love so much that you think I should really try
  • Any book or author that you love and I keep commenting on your posts that I want to try these but I still haven’t done so (I think I do this a lot sorry)

Tell Me:
What’s one or more books you think I should read in 2023?

  1. I’m recommending Airman by Eoin Colfer. It’s outside your favorite genres (historical fiction/adventure) but it’s such a beautiful story and I don’t know anyone who has read it. *sob*

    1. Oh lovely pick, thanks for the rec! I’ve seen Eoin Colfer books on your blog before, but have never read one so this is perfect 🙂

  2. I’m going to recommend Legends & Lattes! If you have read it then I’ll pick something else! 🙂

    1. Thanks for the rec! I haven’t read it yet, but it’s been on my TBR so it’s perfect, thanks!

      1. Awesome!! I hope you enjoy 🙂

  3. Ways The World Could End by Kim Hooper. I read it last month and really liked it.

    1. Thanks so much for the rec! I’m adding it to my TBR for next year 🙂

  4. I took a look at your TBR on Goodreads. I saw that you had a couple Tarryn Fisher books on your list, but I actually want to challenge you to read a different one. Either I Can Be a Better You or Mud Vein. I like her indie books more than her traditionally published. Or I would recommend Full Tilt by Emma Scott.

    1. Thanks so much for the recs! Both are indeed authors I’ve been wanting to try so I’ll be sure to add one or more of these to my reading pile for 2023.

      1. YAY!

  5. I recommend Esperance by Heather Frost or One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig.

    1. Thanks for the recs, I’ll check them out and add one or both to my TBR for next year 🙂

  6. I’ll recommend The Wedding Ringer by Kerry Rea!

    1. Thanks so much for the rec, The Wedding Ringer sounds lovely!
