Monthly Wrap Up

November 2022: The Month I Watched More TV Than I Read (And That’s Okay)

2022 Wrap up - November2

Hi everybody, and welcome to my November wrap up.

This month I read 3 books, which is not a lot for me. I thought my reading slump was over last month, but it seems like I’m not quite there yet. But that’s okay, because I spent my free time watching a lot of TV and what I watched was all AMAZING. So no regrets, the reading will come back when it does. And until then, I’ll watch some more TV and play some more Disney’s Dreamlight Valley on the Switch…

What I Read

Something Wilder by Christina Lauren

Though I love this author duo a lot, Something Wilder was not my favorite read by them. I appreciate that they tried to do something a little different with this adventure and treasure hunt, but I guess it just wasn’t for me, and that’s okay. It was a fun ride, don’t get me wrong, but I couldn’t seem to get invested in the second chance romance and the wilderness and some of the shocking revelations.

Carry Me Through Christmas by Rachel Holm

I’ve gotten into the holiday mood and as such have started my holiday reading. Carry Me Through Christmas is about an event planner who LOVES Christmas, and who has one last chance to save her hometown from having to merge with their rival town, by setting up an amazing Holiday festival. Only downside? She needs to work together with the CFO from said rival town, and he *dun dun* does NOT love Christmas. This was a fun and steamy Holiday read and I highly enjoyed the banter and sunshine/grump dynamic.

Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop

I read the physical copy of this one about 2-3 years ago and absolutely LOVED it. But then I never continued the series. So I’m trying my luck with the audiobooks instead, as audio seems to work better for me lately anyway. I really enjoyed this re-read (still LOVING the found family aspect) and am excited to dive into the rest of the series.

What I Listened To

While October had so many new releases my playlist was overflowing, November didn’t have that much new music for me. I mostly listened to my October playlist, meaning Taylor Swift, Dreamcatcher and Sleeping With Sirens mostly. And this song:

Pvris – Animal

Pvris never disappoints, that’s all.

What I Watched

Young Royals (Season 2)

Earlier this year I watched the first season of this Swedish show about a Prince falling for a working class boy and I became OBSESSED (read my rave here). I was so happy that season 2 came out this November and I think I watched all 6 episodes in 2 days. Season 2 was everything I wanted. I loved the relationship between Wille and Simon and how it developed after all the drama from the first season. The final scene was EPIC. I also loved how Felice was such a great friend and I was even intrigued by August and Sara. And now the long wait for season 3 begins…

Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself (Season 1)

DID ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS ADAPTATION OF THE HALF BAD TRILOGY BY SALLY GREEN? Because I only discovered that this show existed this month! I went into it with little to no expectations and was completely BLOWN AWAY. This show is such a hidden gem in the fantasy genre and an incredibly fresh, timely and unique take on the original source material. It’s a rollercoaster adventure with thoughtful insights and depth, great acting, amazing character journeys, an exquisite chemistry between the three main leads and a delightful queer romance. (Read my full rave here)

Wednesday (Season 1)

I’ve been looking forward to this new show for MONTHS. So naturally, I finished it in one weekend. I LOVED this show so much. This dark humor is just so amazing, and I can’t get enough. I loved Jenna Ortega as Wednesday and thought she really did the character justice. Highlights of the show to me were Wednesday’s friendships with Enid and Eugene for sure. I also loved Christina Ricci and Gwendoline Christie in their roles. And of course, Thing!

Life Update

I had one week off this month and honestly spent most of it lazing around, playing Disney’s Dreamlight Valley. It was heaven. Then it was back to work and the rest is honestly a bit of a blur of work. I did have lunch with a friend one weekend, and a family event another, which was nice. I’m so ready for Christmas break now haha.

Things that made me happy this month:

  • Disney’s Dreamlight Valley. Still obsessed with this cozy game.
  • My husband’s birthday was this month and just like my birthday we celebrated with sushi.
  • Time with loved ones: lunch with my BFF and family gatherings.
  • I finally got myself a Kindle Paperwhite e-reader! I’ve been reading though the Kindle app on my phone for years and my eyes were sending me warning signs that that wasn’t okay anymore. So enter the Kindle. I’m already loving it (and so do my eyes).
  • I watched 3 AMAZING TV shows: Young Royals (S2), Half Bad: The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself (S1) and Wednesday (S1)

THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

  • Christmas break! I’m looking forward to coziness and spending time with family. And food, also. And mayyybe some presents, haha.
  • A dinner date with friends.
  • Watching ALL the cheesy Christmas movies.

How was your November? What did you read? What did you listen to and what did you watch? What are you looking forward to in December?
