Bookish People I’d Like To Meet

20230307 Bookish People I'd Like To Meet

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re talking about bookish people we’d like to meet. I’m focusing on authors, book characters and book bloggers today, so let’s get into it!

Authors

I’m a total awkward bean so meeting these people would be so stressful for me, but still it would also be such a wonderful experience that I feel like it would be worth it!

Annette Marie – She’s been my favorite author for so many years now and I’d love to meet her in person and thank her for creating all of my favorite fictional worlds and characters!

TJ Klune – Though I still have a huuuge backlist of books I need to read by TJ Klune, he’s rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. His books always feel like that perfect balance of an emotional gutpunch and a shot of serotonin at the same time.

Leigh Bardugo – Another favorite author of mine – she also just seems so incredibly cool and like a really nice person so I’d love to meet her.

Christina Lauren – Technically Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings are a writer duo, not just one writer, but I’d love to meet both of them! They write some of my favorite romances and they are also huge BTS fans so I feel like we could chat about them for a bit 🙂

Book Characters

I tried NOT to include any book characters written by the above authors (because otherwise this would probably be a list of all of their characters, let’s be honest) so here we go:

Kat from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost – She’s so fun and badass and I feel like she would be a great friend to have.

Manon from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas – Could Manon kill me with just one hand? Yes. That said, I love her so much I’d love to meet her anyway.

Elisabeth and Nathaniel from the Sorcery of Thorns series by Margaret Rogerson – Ah, both of these are just such great and fun characters, I’d love to meet them.

L and Light from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata – I know I’d probably end up being a casualty in the cat-and-mouse game these two play. But hey, I just want to meet them and imply they could accomplish anything AND actually be good friends if they’d just get over themselves? Yeah, my name would probably end up written down before I could finish my rant 🙂

Book Bloggers

I love this bookish little community so much and I’d LOVE to meet all of my fellow book bloggers. We could organize a little reading retreat, where we just read and eat and talk about books all day long and it would be so nice! Or just a bookshop date or whatever. It would be great, but alas quite difficult since most of us live on opposite sides of the world. Still, it’s a nice idea and I’d love to meet all of you one day!

  1. I always say I’m super awkward too. Much as I love the idea of being confident and introducing myself to someone when it comes time to meet new people, I tend to not do that. 😉 Hope you get to meet some of these authors someday. Your reading retreat plans sound like it’d be a good time too.

    1. Glad to hear I’m not the only one 🙂 Introducing myself to people would make me feel so self-conscious and shy. But still, the idea is fun. And I’ll keep dreaming about that reading retreat anyway 😀

  2. So far, it seems a similar theme that many of us are too shy/awkward to REALLY meet our wishes, but it’s a fun exercise. I had to put aside that I won’t have to actually make conversation with them and just enjoy the thought of what a sparkling conversationalist I’d be. 🙂

    1. Haha yes, from the comments I do indeed get the impression that most of us feel quite shy and awkward, but hey, at least we’d all get along because we’d understand each other about that 🙂

  3. I love the idea of meeting authors more than actually meeting them. I get sort of weirdly shy around my favorite authors. Ha!

    1. Haha I totally understand! I once went to a signing of a Belgian author I liked and I got so shy that I sent my husband to get my autograph instead *oops*

Lindsey, I would love to meet you too! And trust me, you are not alone in the shy/awkward category when it comes to meeting new people.

    1. Aw thanks! And yes, from the comments I do feel like we’re all at least a little awkward so I have a feeling we’d get along just fine 🙂

  5. I am an introvert big time, so I don’t think I would be very good company. I love the idea of meeting fellow bloggers for sure, but I know me and I would clam up. I don’t like making others feel uncomfortable. I am a very nice person, but I am just awkward around others for real, lol! Happy reading everyone 😊

    1. Oh I totally relate! I’d probably be the exact same as I’m super introverted and awkward. But still, I do like the idea of meeting everyone and from the comments I feel like most of us are awkward so at least we’d empathize with each other 🙂

  6. Meeting fellow book bloggers would be the best thing ever. Even if it was just a little meet up, having lunch and then visit a bookshop. It would be utter perfection!

    1. Yes exactly! To me, lunch and a bookshop visit with fellow book bloggers sounds like such a perfect activity – it would be amazing!

  7. I’m an awkward bean sometimes, too!

TJ Klune would be a fun person to meet.

    1. Glad to hear I’m not the only awkward bean 🙂
TJ Klune does indeed seem like such a fun person to meet!

  8. I met Leigh Bardugo years and years ago at a book convention but since I’d never read any of her books, sadly it wasn’t as meaningful.

    1. Oh I can imagine! But at least great that you had the opportunity to meet her – and maybe some other authors as well?

  9. Haha, when I met Kate Morton, I totally froze and couldn’t think of anything to say to her, so I empathize with you on that! A book blogger meet up would be so awesome!

    1. Haha I can definitely relate, that would probably happen to me as well! But I do hope your meeting was lovely apart from the freezing 🙂
A book blogger meet up would be so awesome indeed!

  10. I love that you picked a little of everything for this topic. It would be fun to be able to meet up with everyone. I’ve been lucky to meet a couple fellow bloggers and I hope to meet more in the future.

    1. Thanks! That is cool that you got to meet some fellow bloggers in the past! I haven’t met anyone yet, but maybe in the future there could be some opportunities to do that hopefully 🙂

  11. You forgot Silas, :p but yes Elisabeth and Nathaniel are amazing too,

    1. Haha yes, of course Silas would be in the meeting too 😉

  12. I’m also very awkward and got quite nervous meeting Leigh Bardugo back in January but she is absolutely lovely! Elisabeth and Nathaniel would be so fun to meet (but no Silas? I would absolutely want to meet Silas too!) and I’d also love to meet Manon even if she could kill me with one hand!

    1. It’s so cool that you got to meet Leigh Bardugo! She does seem like she’s a lovely person.
Haha, yes I’d definitely want to meet Silas too! He’d probably come along with Elisabeth and Nathaniel anyway 🙂
Manon could indeed kill us with just one hand and yet I’d love to meet her anyway 🙂

      1. Definitely and very funny too! Ha ha that is true, I don’t think they’d go anywhere without him. Ha ha yes, where’s the fun without a little danger?

  13. I love the idea of meeting book characters. We spend so much time with them in their stories, it’s fun to think of meeting them and having tea or whatever.

And wouldn’t it be cool of there was some kind of book con or something for bloggers? 🙂

    1. Yes indeed! We spend so much time with these book characters that it should be possible to meet them for real 🙂
Also, yes a book con for bloggers would be amazing!

  14. This is such an amazing list – you’ve touched on so many of my favorites here. Elizabeth and Nathaniel, Leigh Bardugo, and especially Manon!

    1. Thanks! Glad we have a lot of favorites in common 🙂

  15. I agree! I think it would be wonderful to meet other book bloggers. I love communicating with everyone online, but it would be so fun to sit down with each other in person. Great list!

    1. Yes, indeed! I love the online friendships, but I’d still love to be able to meet in person too 🙂

  16. I definitely wouldn’t want to be on Kat’s bad side! 😀

    1. Haha, me neither! 🙂

  17. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

I’d love to meet you too Lindsay! And Nathaniel and Elisabeth LOL

    1. It would be so fun to do a meet-up indeed! With non-fictional bloggers and fictional characters alike haha 🙂

  18. I’m so awkward when I meet people! haha. You have a great list! TJ Klune is a good one! It would be really cool if there was a huge con or something just for book bloggers. We could all meet up and stuff. Someone needs to make something like this happen!

    1. Haha, I’m so awkward too 😀 But I’d still love to meet all fellow book bloggers so yes, a blogger con of some kind would be wonderful!

      1. I think that’s a prereq for bloggers.. to be awkward, haha!

  19. I think meeting the duo Christina Lauren would be fun. Also, your Bloggers meet-up sounds perfect 🙂

    1. I’d love to meet Christina Lauren 🙂 And yes, I’ll keep dreaming about that bloggers meet-up!

  20. Lauren Becker says:

I’ve been lucky to meet some fellow bloggers, some not even blogging anymore. But I’d love to meet you all!!!

    Lauren @ http://www.shootingstarsmag.net

    1. It is great that you got to meet some bloggers, even if they’re not active anymore. Definitely hope to some day be able to meet some fellow bloggers too 🙂

  21. Awww, I love the idea of a little reading retreat for the book blogger community. I really hope you’ll get to meet Annette Marie some day!

    1. I’ll forever keep dreaming about that reading retreat. And meeting Annette Marie 🙂
