“WWW” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Taking On A World of Words.
Hi everybody, and welcome to a new WWW Wednesday! For this post, we’ll be answering three questions (the 3 Ws):
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
I had a nice weekend full of reading and finished 3 books in that time (of course, not all started this weekend, but still 🙂 )
I’ve finished (re)reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab as audiobook.
With The Fragile Threads of Power coming out in September, I really wanted to do a re-read of the original trilogy, which has been one of my favorites for many years now. I originally read these in a physical copy, but I’ve been struggling to read physical copies lately, so I opted for audio and it’s been a good choice as I flew through this one that way (though I’m not quite sold on the pronunciation of the narrator).
Though I have to admit that the first book has never been my favorite of the series (I loved it, but that love only became 5-star OBSESSION in book 2), I’m very happy I did this re-read because I had forgotten SO MUCH. Now onto book 2!
I finished reading The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston as ebook.
The Seven Year Slip has been one of my most anticipated reads of the year because I LOVED The Dead Romantics and I was super intrigued by the time travel aspect of this one.
And it totally loved up to my expectations. This was such a lovely cozy fantasy romance! I loved Iwan from the moment we met him and I liked that this is so much more than just a romance with the way grief is being handled. And I loved the incorporation of the magical element, with the time-travelling apartment.
I’ve also finished Famine by Laura Thalassa as ebook.
My feelings for the third installment in the Four Horsemen series are a little mixed. I LOVED the beginning. Then the middle became a bit too repetitive again, too much like the previous two books. But then the last 30% or so was once again amazing. I loved the main characters the most from all books I’ve read so far. And I loved the banter.
So while my feelings were mixed, overall I enjoyed this one more than the second installment, War. I am curious about the fourth and final book though and hope it will be a nice conclusion and not too repetitive.
I am currently reading A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab as audiobook.
Yep, I finished book one and dove immediately into book two as I’m determined to finish my re-read of the trilogy by end of September and also because I wanted more Lila and Kell.
And as I said above, when I first read this trilogy it was with book 2 that I really became OBSESSED with this series so I’m curious to see if I’ll feel as strongly upon re-read.
As usual, I’m a huge mood reader so who knows what I’ll be reading next? Until the moment I pick up a book, not even me knows. But here are a few possibilities:
I loved the main characters from Famine the most out of all books so far too but once again a lot of repetition, sadly enough!
Yes, exactly! I just started Death and so far it seems different so we’ll see 🙂
I’m really looking forward to The Seven Year Slip!
I hope you’ll love it too!
Yay! I’m glad The Seven Year Slip loved up to your expectations! I hope Love, Theoretically will as well.
Thanks, I’m looking forward to starting Love, Theoretically soon 🙂
I really want to re-read Shades of Magic too. I hope I have time before the new book comes out.
I just started re-reading book 3 and I’m so happy I did because I completely immersed into the world again. Hope you’ll still be able to re-read too!
Famine looks interesting even if it was a little uneven. Will have to check that one out…
Famine was definitely my favorite of the series!
