Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Something Different Sunday, in which I talk about, well, something DIFFERENT than books.
Do you know what my favorite part of the end of the year is? LISTS! I love listing top ten lists of all my favorites, so today I’m listing my 10 (or 12) favorite songs of 2024.
Note: in previous years I split this up into a kpop and non-kpop edition. However, I did not listen to as much kpop in 2024 and I don’t think I could have a separate list for it this year. So I’m incorporating it into this list and in return I went two songs over 10… A good deal if you ask me 😉
THE ABSOLUTE FAVORITE:
Linkin Park – The Emptiness Machine
COMEBACK OF THE DECADE! I’ve talked about this comeback and how I feel about it in many blog posts before, so for now I’m just going to say I am beyond thankful that this band came back and I am 100% with them for this new era!

Chrissy Costanza ft Voilà – 7 Minutes in Hell
2024 did not have any new Against The Current, but it did have solo Chrissy Costanza and that was pretty perfect too!

Stray Kids – Chk Chk Boom
I know I can always count on Stray Kids to release these powerful, uplifting bops that I can’t help but want to dance along to.

I make it right zeroing in clear”
Taylor Swift – I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
The Tortured Poets Department was one of 2024’s best albums, no doubt about it! I love so many songs from the album, but when it comes to absolute favorite it’s I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (followed very closely by Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?)

PVRIS, Tommy Genesis, Alice Longyu Gao – Burn The Witch
SUCH A POWER SONG! I’ve been obsessed with this one for months.
“Double bubble, toil and trouble (hello?)
Spoke my mind and I got a muzzle”
From Ashes To New ft Chrissy Costanza – Barely Breathing
Breaking my rule not to have the same artist in this list twice, but hey it’s a totally different collab so I think it’s okay (especially since it’s such an amazing song!)

Marianas Trench – Down To You
This song <3 This song never fails to get my head bopping and my feet tapping and I end up having a big smile on my face every single time.

Voilà – Hope That I Go First
(Another time breaking my rule of only listing each artist once, but just like with Chrissy I need to make an exception for Voilà). 2024 is the year I got to know this band, even though they’ve been making music for a while. I got to know them from their biggest hit Figure You Out, but when it comes to new releases I adore this slower ballad so much.

Sabrina Carpenter – Please Please Please
2024 was definitely also the year of Sabrina Carpenter. My favorite of hers was Please Please Please, it was just too much fun to sing along to (side note: I pretty much sang the below lyrics (lovingly) to my dog every time before we went out for a walk, begging her not to pull me around too much)

The Veronicas – Perfect
Technically this song was released at the end of 2023, not 2024. But I only discovered it early 2024 and was OBSESSED with it for months so I’m counting it for this list because it’s too good not to include.
