1. Best Book You Read In 2024?

Funny Story was my favorite read of the year and my favorite Emily Henry release as well. Butcher & Blackbird was a complete surprise, but ended up a new favorite too. And Kingdom of Claw, the second book in The Ashen series, was just one of those fantasy books that completely rejuvenated my love for fantasy after a long foray into romance.

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle L. Jensen

I was super excited for A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen, but it ended up a letdown. I didn’t like the main characters, I thought the plot was too slow and more tell instead of show and I couldn’t get into the romance.

 3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read?

Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

Look, I wasn’t expecting to really like a serial killer romance. I’m a scaredy cat who doesn’t like gore. But Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver was more quirky and funny than scary or gory and I’ve never laughed as much with a book as I did this one. And I was rooting for the romance too, so win-win!

 4. Book You “Pushed” The Most People To Read (And They Did)?

Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

I’ve been pretty vocal about my love for Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, so while I’m not sure if people actually read it because of me, I definitely added to the hype 🙂

 5. Best series you started in 2024? Best Sequel? Best Series Ender of 2024?

Series starter: I really loved Vesselless by Cortney L. Winn and can’t wait to read more.

Sequel: Kingdom of Claw by Demi Winters was PERFECTION!

Series ending: Somewhere Beyond The Sea by TJ Klune was such a lovely way to end the duology (though I’m also kind of hoping there will be more)

 6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2024?

7. Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

I’m not usually that into YA thrillers, but A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson was really good!

 8. Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book of the year?

Mage Assassins and Other Misfits by Annette Marie and Rob Jacobsen

I always have trouble putting down an Annette Marie book, but Mage Assassins & Other Misfits took it to a new level!

 9. Book You Read In 2024 That You Would Be MOST Likely To Re-Read Next Year?

Funny Story by Emily Henry

Considering I read Funny Story by Emily Henry after its release in April and have been wanting to re-read it ever since, chances are very likely I’ll re-read it next year.

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2024?

The Wraith King by Juliette Cross

I was a bit disappointed by the book itself, but there’s no denying that the cover for The Wraith King by Juliette Cross is absolutely stunning!

11. Most memorable character of 2024?

Powerless by Lauren Roberts

I’m holding space for every single thing Kai Azer has said or thought in Powerless and Reckless, and especially for the audiobook performance.

 12. Most beautifully written book read in 2024?

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

There was just something so lyrical about Divine Rivals (and the sequel Ruthless Vows) by Rebecca Ross, I loved the writing style.

13. Most Thought-Provoking/ Life-Changing Book of 2024?

Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune

Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune has definitely been on my mind a lot.

 14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2024 to finally read?

Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent

Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent was such a solid fantasy series starter. I think I was hesitating a bit because of the cover, but I shouldn’t have because this was soo good!

 15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2024?

“I think we all wear armor. I think those who don’t are fools, risking the pain of being wounded by the sharp edges of the world, over and over again. But if I’ve learned anything from those fools, it is that to be vulnerable is a strength most of us fear. It takes courage to let down your armor, to welcome people to see you as you are.”
― Rebecca Ross, Divine Rivals

20. Favorite Book You Read in 2024 From An Author You’ve Read Previously

B.K. Borison is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me!

21. Best Book You Read In 2024 That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else/Peer Pressure/Bookstagram, Etc.:

Quicksilver by Callie Hart

Quicksilver by Callie Hart has been ALL OVER bookstagram and booktok and all places bookish. And while I had a few little issues, I also sped through this book in a matter of days and I’m already anxiously awaiting book 2.

22. Newest fictional crush from a book you read in 2024?

Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent

Maxantarius Farlione jumped straight to the number one place on my book crush list with his grumpy but sweet, would-rather-stay-home-and-read-and-garden ways.

23. Best 2024 debut you read?

Vesselless by Cortney L. Winn

More people need to pick up Vesselless by Cortney L. Winn as it is amazing!

24. Best Worldbuilding/Most Vivid Setting You Read This Year?

The Road of Bones by Demi Winters

The worldbuilding in this Norse mythology-inspired book series is amazing – from the creatures (vampire deer!) to the history to the politics to the gods… Seriously, amazing!

25. Book That Put A Smile On Your Face/Was The Most FUN To Read?

Heartstopper vol 5 by Alice Oseman

Though there are also emotional moments, I just can’t contain the smile on my face while reading the Heartstopper series – it is just so wholesome and adorable!

26. Book That Made You Cry Or Nearly Cry in 2024?

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

This was a re-read, and yet I still bawled my eyes out…

27. Hidden Gem Of The Year?

The Road of Bones by Demi Winters

I have mentioned this book and series a few times already in this list, but it is seriously so amazing and underrated and more people need to go check it out!

28. Book That Crushed Your Soul?

Like previous years, I mostly stayed away from soul-crushing reads in 2024. I’m still preferring the light, happy, cozy reads or epic, action-packed fantasies and I’m not sure whether I’m already ready for heartbreaking sob-books. Maybe in 2025?

29. Most Unique Book You Read In 2024?

Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

It’s definitely unique when you can laugh this much with a book about serial killers…

30. Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?

The Five Year Lie by Sarina Bowen

No spoilers here, but that one death had me so mad!

5. One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging Life In 2025?

I’ve had quite some reading and blogging slumps in 2024, so my number one goal for 2025 is to only read what I want to read when I want to read it. So not to feel pressured by numbers or hype of needing to be consistent with the blog. Wish me luck 😉
